Mixed use scheme in Kosovo maps and mitigates solar gain throughout the year. Computer-generated architecture might conjure up images of Gehry and Zaha-type schemes of dubious sustainability credentials. But digital technology has helped the façade of this mixed use scheme in Prishtina, Kosovo, to combat solar gain while maintaining aesthetic integrity .Southwark-based 4M Group’s design implements a ‘self shading mechanism’ whereby south facing panels are extruded to cast shadows or, north facing, pushed outwards to let the light in.
